Does a generator need to be grounded?

As with grounding, a professional will install your permanent standby generator according to code and at the appropriate distance from all windows, doors, and openings. In this way, carbon monoxide (CO, an odorless, colorless gas in exhaust that can poison and kill people) can’t build up to dangerous levels as it would in an enclosed space or under a window.
